The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has reminded the public to use the national emergency toll-free number, 112, to report emergencies and seek immediate assistance as Ghana continues to experience heavy rainfall and an increased risk of flooding.
The awareness campaign also highlights additional emergency contact numbers for residents requiring urgent disaster response services. NADMO is encouraging the public to remain vigilant, follow official safety advisories, and report incidents promptly to enable swift intervention by emergency responders.
The reminder comes at a time when persistent rains have caused flooding in several communities across the country, disrupting transportation, damaging property, and displacing residents. Disaster management experts continue to advise Ghanaians to avoid flood-prone areas, stay away from overflowing drains and rivers, and refrain from driving or walking through floodwaters.
Authorities have also reiterated the importance of keeping drainage systems free from waste, as blocked drains remain one of the leading causes of urban flooding. Citizens are urged to cooperate with emergency services, monitor weather updates, and prioritise safety throughout the rainy season.
NADMO stressed that disaster preparedness is a shared responsibility, urging the public to save the emergency number 112 and contact the organisation immediately whenever lives or property are at risk.
