The University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development, Mampong Campus (USTED-M), is set to witness a significant transition in student leadership as the various student representative administrations prepare to formally hand over power to their successors at a joint Handing-Over Ceremony scheduled for 22nd August 2026 at the USTED-M IT Quadrant.

The ceremony will mark the official conclusion of the 2025/2026 academic year student leadership administrations and usher in a new generation of executives who will assume responsibility for the affairs of students for the 2026/2027 academic year.

At the centre of the transition will be the outgoing SRC/LNUGS Administration, led by H.E. Watara Yusif Darago, who will officially hand over the leadership of the Student Representative Council to H.E. Solomon Konlan, the newly elected SRC President, and his team.

However, this year’s ceremony is set to go beyond the traditional SRC transition.A Joint Transition of Student LeadershipIn previous years, the handing-over ceremony involving the SRC/LNUGS and Junior Common Room Committee (JCRC) has provided a platform for the outgoing and incoming central student leadership to formally transition responsibilities. This year’s edition introduces a broader approach, with the JCRC and other departmental student administrations also being incorporated into the programme.

Consequently, the ceremony will bring together the transition of leadership across the major student representative structures of the university, including the SRC/LNUGS Administration, JCRC Administration and participating departmental administrations. The expanded arrangement is expected to provide a more unified platform for outgoing executives to formally account for their tenure and transfer institutional responsibilities to the incoming leadership.

Watara’s Administration Brings Its Chapter to a CloseThe handing over will officially bring the 2025/2026 SRC Administration, under the leadership of H.E. Watara Yusif Darago, to a close.Over the course of its tenure, the administration has served as the principal representative body of the student populace, with its executives occupying various portfolios responsible for student welfare, communication, academic concerns, social activities and other aspects of student governance.

The handing-over therefore represents more than a ceremonial transfer of positions. It signifies the conclusion of one chapter of student leadership and the preservation of institutional continuity as the next administration assumes office.

Solomon Konlan to Take the SRC MantleFollowing the conclusion of the electoral process, H.E. Solomon Konlan, the SRC President-elect, will formally assume the leadership of the SRC as the head of the incoming 2026/2027 SRC Administration.

The ceremony will provide the official platform for the outgoing administration to transfer the mantle of leadership to the newly elected executives, who will subsequently begin their mandate of representing and serving the student body. The transition is expected to attract students, outgoing and incoming executives, departmental representatives, university stakeholders and other members of the USTED-M community.

JCRC and Departmental Administrations Join the Transition

A notable feature of this year’s event is the inclusion of the JCRC Administration and other departmental student leadership structures. The JCRC, which represents students at the hall level, will also undertake its own transition as the outgoing executives hand over responsibilities to their successors.Similarly, participating departmental administrations will use the occasion to formally conclude their respective tenures and usher in their newly elected or appointed executives.Bringing these administrations together is expected to create a broader institutional transition, allowing the various arms of student leadership to collectively mark the end of the 2025/2026 academic year and the beginning of a new leadership cycle.

From Handing Over to a Celebration of the Semester

While the principal purpose of the gathering is the formal transition of power, the occasion will also carry a celebratory dimension. For the first time in connection with the handing-over programme, the event will feature a Live Band Session, adding an entertainment component to the formal proceedings.

The live band is expected to provide students with an opportunity to unwind and celebrate at the close of the semester after what has been a demanding academic and student leadership year. The combination of leadership transition and live entertainment is expected to give the ceremony a distinctive character, transforming the occasion from a purely administrative function into a broader celebration of the USTED-M student community.

    A New Chapter Begins

As the outgoing executives prepare to relinquish their respective mandates, the incoming administrations stand ready to assume the responsibilities entrusted to them by the student body. For the SRC/LNUGS, JCRC and departmental administrations, the ceremony will represent a collective moment of reflection, transition and renewal. The passing of power from one administration to another is an essential part of student governance. It ensures that leadership does not end with an individual administration but continues through successive generations of student representatives.

On 22nd August 2026, therefore, USTED-M will not only witness the handing over of offices and responsibilities, it will witness the closing of one leadership chapter and the opening of another.

USTED-M STUDENTS, BE PART OF THE MOMENT

Students are warmly encouraged to participate in the ceremony and witness this important moment in the university’s student leadership calendar. The SRC/LNUGS Handing-Over, JCRC Handing-Over and participating Departmental Handing-Over Ceremonies, followed by the Live Band Session, promise to make the event a memorable conclusion to the semester.
