Residents around Nsuta have been left shocked after the Nsuta Circuit Court sentenced four young men to a combined 75-year jail term for robbing a fetish priestess and stealing valuables from her shrine.The victim, popularly known as Komfo baa Nana Afia Konadu, was attacked at her shrine during a robbery incident that reportedly took place in December last year.
According to reports presented during court proceedings, the gang leader, Patrick Adu, initially visited the shrine seeking spiritual protection over his gold possession. The priestess reportedly gave him a date to return for further spiritual directions.However, things took a different turn when he allegedly returned with four other gang members identified as Francis Obeng, Patrick Owusu, Karim Nurudeen and Edem Ajyebe.
Reports say the group stormed the shrine and robbed the priestess of several valuables. They allegedly took away items belonging to the shrine and also forced the priestess to reveal her mobile money PIN code.The suspects reportedly withdrew an amount of GH¢1,200 from her mobile money account during the robbery.
Interestingly, the fetish priestess is said to have kept the matter to herself for months before finally reporting the case in April this year, leading to investigations and the eventual arrest of the suspects.
During proceedings on 30th April 2026, the judge at the Nsuta Circuit Court sentenced the four convicted men to a total of 75 years imprisonment for their involvement in the robbery.
Meanwhile, one of the suspects, Edem Ajyebe, is currently on the run and is yet to be apprehended by authorities. The case has since sparked conversations among residents, with many expressing concern over the increasing cases of robbery and youth involvement in crime across some communities in the Ashanti Region.
