Residents of Wamanafo in the Dormaa East District have finally received a major boost in education infrastructure as the Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Lawyer Joseph Addae Akwaboah, officially inaugurated a newly completed classroom block for Wamanafo St Peter’s R/C Primary School on Wednesday, 6th May 2026.
For many years, pupils and teachers of the school had been studying and teaching in a weak wooden structure that had become a serious danger to lives. The old classroom block, which was almost collapsing, had raised concerns among parents, teachers, and community members who feared for the safety of the children anytime school was in session.The newly commissioned building now brings relief, hope, and a safer learning environment for both pupils and staff of the school.
A Promise Fulfilled Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, the Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Lawyer Joseph Addae Akwaboah, stated that the project was part of the promises made by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the 2024 election campaign. According to him, the government remains committed to fulfilling its campaign promises and improving the lives of Ghanaians through development projects across the country.
He explained that President John Dramani Mahama had assured Ghanaians that his administration would remain accountable to the people through the work of Regional Ministers and Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).“The people of Ghana can now see that the one and half years we have spent in office has been put to good use. We are working hard to improve lives and bring development to our communities,” the Regional Minister said during his address.
Many community members described the old wooden structure as a “death trap” due to its poor condition and risk of collapse. During rainy seasons and strong winds, teaching and learning often became difficult and unsafe. The completion of the new classroom block is therefore seen as a major achievement for the Wamanafo community and the education sector in Dormaa East. Teachers, parents, and pupils expressed their appreciation to the government and all stakeholders who played a role in making the project a reality.
The event attracted several party executives, government officials, traditional leaders, and residents from across the district. Among the notable personalities present was the Member of Parliament for Dormaa East, Hon. Rachel Owusuaa, together with other prominent members of the NDC in Dormaa East and the Bono Region.
The ceremony was marked with excitement and gratitude from the community, as many believe the new school block will help improve academic performance and create a better future for the children of Wamanafo.
