Government Should Support Private Schools for National Growth – Ps. Wiliams Sabi ( Proprietor Sabwill Educational Complex )

Education is the backbone of every strong nation. When education is well supported, the country grows not only in knowledge but also in employment and development. One important part of this system is private schools, which quietly play a big role in shaping the future of the nation.
This important message was strongly shared during the Grand Durbar of the 30th Anniversary of Sabwill Educational Complex. Speaking on the theme “Three Decades of Educational Excellence: Honoring Our Past, Celebrating Our Present, Shaping the Future,” the proprietor, Pastor Williams Sabi, made a heartfelt appeal to the government and stakeholders.
Private Schools Are Partners, Not Competitors
In his speech, Pastor Williams Sabi clearly stated that private schools are not in competition with government schools. Instead, they are partners working toward the same goal quality education for all. Both systems serve the same children, communities, and nation. Therefore, supporting private schools means strengthening the entire education sector.
One major point highlighted was how private schools have reduced the burden on government. Thousands of students who would have depended solely on public schools are now enrolled in private institutions. This helps reduce overcrowding in government schools and allows more children to access education comfortably.
Beyond students, private schools also provide employment opportunities. They employ large numbers of teaching and non-teaching staff teachers, administrators, cleaners, security personnel, caterers, and many others. This directly contributes to reducing unemployment and supporting families across the country.
Despite their contribution, many private schools struggle with challenges such as:
High operational costs, Lack of infrastructure support, Limited access to loans and grants ,Heavy taxes and utility bills
Pastor Williams Sabi emphasized that it would be a great honour and relief if the government could support private school owners in practical ways. This support could come through:
Soft loans or grants, Tax reliefs, Teacher training support
Such help would not only benefit private school owners but would also improve teaching quality, school facilities, and student outcomes.
As Sabwill Educational Complex celebrates 30 years of educational excellence, the message is clear: education thrives best when government and private institutions work hand in hand. Supporting private schools is not a favour it is a smart investment in the nation’s future.
When private schools are empowered, education becomes stronger, employment increases, and the country moves closer to sustainable development. Government support for private schools is therefore not optional it is essential.
Education is everyone’s responsibility. Together, we can shape a brighter future.
